It’s the first game of the 2017 -2018 Serie A Season! Juventus the defending champions starting with a victory after defeating Cagliari at the Juventus Stadium on Saturday 19 August 2017. A minute of silence is observed before the game in memory of Barcelona’s victims.
It is Juventus to open the score in the 12th minute. Forward Mario Mandzukic defeating Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by defender Stephan Lichtsteiner. A historic goal for Mandzukic as this is the official first goal of the new season to set the tone.

Cagliari wasting a precious chance to level the score. In the 38th minute, Referee Maresca giving a penalty to Cagliari after consulting the VAR. Here is the situation. The penalty is conceded by Juventus defender Alex Sandro after a foul on Cagliari forward Duje Cop inside the penalty box. Incredible so, Cagliari forward Diego Farias seeing his chance to score frustrated because Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon becomes “Super Buffon” and saves Farias’ right footed shot in the center!
