Napoli losing the Champions League Mathday 3 game against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday 17 October 2017.   The challenge for Napoli will be to defeat Manchester City on Matchday 4 at the San Paolo Stadium.

Here is the standing situation after Matchday 3.  Manchester City keeps the first position winning all 3 games reaching 9 points, Shakhtar Donetsk the second position with 6 points, Napoli the third position with 3 points.   Time for Napoli to increase the accelerator and start winning.

The game with a bad start for Napoli! The score is opened by Manchester City in the 9th minute! It is Raheem Sterling to smack a left footed shot defeating Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina sending the ball in the bottom left corner.

Oh no! Manchester City increasing the score in the 13th minute. It is Gabriel Jesus to defeat goalkeeper Pepe Reina from close range with a right footed shot in the center. The assist is by Kevin De Bruyne with a cross.

Napoli wasting a precious opportunity to shorten the distance in the 38th minute. Referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz giving a penalty to Napoli conceded by Kyle Walker after a foul on Napoli defender Raúl Albiol inside the penalty area. Sadly, forward Dries Mertens failing to convert his right footed shot penalty because Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson saved it in the center. I am just having a headache!

Second chance for Napoli!   Referee Antonio Mateu giving another penalty to Napoli in the 73rd minute. The penalty is conceded by Fernandinho after a foul on Faouzi Ghoulam. It is Amadou Diawara to walk towards the penalty spot (while most thought Mertens was going to try again). There you goooooooo Diawara converting the penalty defeating goalkeeper Ederson with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner.
