Hellas Verona – Inter

👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Inter, 1st position with 3 points and a positive goal difference of +4
Hellas Verona, 13th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -1

🇮🇹 Here is Hellas Verona vs Inter preview for the Serie A Week 2 on Friday 27 August 2021 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy at 20:45.

Hellas Verona will have to fully concentrate to challenge Italy’s Champions Inter.  Hellas lost last week at the Bentegodi against Sassuolo (Hellas Verona 2 – 3 Sassuolo) while Inter crushed Genoa (Inter 4  – 0 Genoa.)  An advantage for Verona’s attack having midfielder Mattias Zaccagni among the top scorers sharing the spot with Bologna defender Lorenzo De Silvestri, Cagliari João Pedro, and AS Roma Jordan Veretout with 2 goals each.

Stats head to head.  There have been 60 previous meetings in Serie A between these two teams:  Inter with 35 wins, 21 draws and Hellas Verona with 4 wins.   The last time Hellas Verona defeat Inter was back in February 1992 with a 1-0 home win thanks to Ezio Rossi’s goal.  The 4 games won by Verona were at the Bentegodi.  Can they do it now? Even a draw at this point will be a plus for Verona.

Inter are unbeaten in the three-point era of Serie A (since 1994/95), Verona are the one Inter have faced most often 20 with 16 wins and drawing four.

The only match played in August between the two teams dates back to 1999, when the Nerazzurri won 3-0 against Hellas Verona while coached by Cesare Prandelli.

Motivation is high for Inter with Coach Simone Inzaghi determined to defend the title. A victory will be a mega boost for Inter as they are leading the Serie A Table having a +4 goal advantage.

Simply put, Inter favorites to win this game, Inter winning three consecutive opening Serie A with 4+ goals scored. Inter’s target is to win the opening two league games in three consecutive seasons for the first time since 1955/56.

Match Officials

Referee Manganiello will be assisted by Stefano Alassio from the section of Imperia and Luca Mondin from the section of Treviso. The fourth official will be Antonio Giua from the section of Olbia. 👉 Serie A Standing BEFORE the game:
Udinese, 9th position with 1 point and a goal difference of “0”
Venezia, 19th position with 0 points and a negative goal difference of -2

✅ Here is Udinese vs Venezia preview for the Serie A Week 2 on Friday 27 August 2021 at the Dacia Arena in Udine, Italy at 18:30.

Udinese will have to target for the home victory after last week 2-2 draw with Juventus.  Udinse will have to be fully concentrated to claim this victory.   The last time Udinese faced Venezia was in 2002. Udinese and Venezia have played 6 games against each other, Udinese 2 wins, Venezia wins, and 2 draws.

The last meeting between the two Italian sides ended in a 1-0 away win for Venezia. Riccardo Bocalon scored the only goal of the game.

Challenge is more for promoted Serie B team Venezia to claim their first victory.   Venezia lost last week against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium with a 2-0.  An ideal result for Venezia could be a draw if any point to claim instead of losing all three. Venezia might become the first newly-promoted team to win an away match on a Friday in the Italian Serie A.   Empoli and Salernitana still looking for their victories too.

On paper, Udinese favorites to win the home game.   Roberto Pereyra has scored four goals in Udinese’s last three competitive games, three of them after the 50th minute. Also a potential late threat, Francesco Forte, Venezia’s top scorer last term, netted none of his last five competitive strikes earlier than first-half injury time.

Match Officials

Referee Marinelli will be assisted by Filippo Meli from the section of Parma and Marcello Rossi from the section of Novara. The fourth official will be Niccolò Baroni from the section of Firenze. The VAR will be Paolo Mazzoleni from the section of Bergamo and the AVAR will be Alessandro Costanzo from the section of Orvieto.

👉 Here is Sampdoria vs AC Milan preview for the Serie A Week 1 on Monday 23 August 2021 at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa, Italy at 20:45.

Sampdoria and AC Milan will play their 127th game in Serie A. Stats are in favor of AC Milan with 65 wins, 31 draws, and Sampdoria with 30 wins.  Stats for games in Ligura are 63 times: 25 wins for AC Milan, 19 wins Sampdoria, and 19 draws.  AC Milan have won both of their last two away games against Sampdoria in Serie A.   Milan have only once won three consecutive away matches against Sampdoria in 1968, in a run that was extended to four.

Sampdoria finished last season in the 9th position for the third time in four Serie A leagues.  The challenge for Sampdoria is to rebuild the team and the task is for new Coach Roberto D’Aversa.  AC Milan need consistency compared to last season after leading the first position for weeks to end up in the 2nd position with 79 points being -12 points below Inter winner of the 2020-21 Scudetto with 91 points.

Motivation for AC Milan is high after their qualification to the UEFA Champions League since for the first time since 2012/13.   AC Milan set a new all-time record for away wins in a Serie A season (16), a record that other team has bettered across Europe’s top-five leagues in a single campaign. Inter had the previous record in 2006/07 with 15 wins.

Coach Pioli has lost 4 opening away matches across the last six seasons while winning 2.  Sampdoria, most likely, will rely on forward  Fabio Quagliarella, ending as Sampdoria’s top scorer with 13 goals last season plus celebrating his 500th appearance in the final game. On On the other hand, AC Milan will rely on new signings goalkeeper Mike Maignan, Olivier Giroud, and Alessandro Florenzi.  Maignan kept more clean sheets (21) in 2020/21 than any other goalkeepers in Europe’s Top-5 leagues.  Giroud  could become the 15th Frenchmen to score a Serie A goal for Milan having the most French goalscorers ever in Serie A.

AC Milan haven’t conceded a single goal in their last five league games; the last time they kept at least six clean sheets in a row in Serie A was in February 1994 (nine in that case with Fabio Capello at the helm).

AC Milan have drawn just one of their last 15 Day 1 games in Serie A: 2-2 in September 2011 against Lazio (W8, D6).

A special game for Ante Rebić’s making his 150th in Europe’s Top-5 leagues in case of playing.

👉 Here are Udinese vs Juventus probable lineups:

SAMPDORIA (4-2-3-1): Audero; Bereszynski, Yoshida, O. Colley, Augello; Thorsby, Ekdal; Candreva, Gabbiadini, Damsgaard; Quagliarella.

Subs: Falcone, Depaoli, Ferrari, Chabot, Murillo, Silva, Jankto, Askildsen, Verre, Torregrossa, De Luca, Caprari.

No suspended players

Coach: Roberto D’Aversa.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Rebic; Giroud.

Subs: Tatarusanu, Romagnoli, Ballo-Touré, Gabbia, Kalulu, Castillejo, Krunic, Pobega, Leao, Maldini.
