Week 8 Italy Serie A Results 2017-2018 / Roundup / Eighth Round on Saturday 14, Sunday 15, and Monday 16 October 2017

Hello my friends! Here are the Serie A Week 8 Results for the games on Saturday 14, Sunday 15, and Monday 16 October 2017.  A smashing success for Napoli defeating AS Roma to keep the first position with a perfect score.  Napoli is the only team winning all their 8 games reaching 24 points and being the sole leaders of the Serie A.  You bet Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri is satisfied with his team and the fans are pushing the winning bandwagon too.

The Derby della Madonnina  – Milan Derby is won by Inter claiming the full bragging rights to rule the City of Milan.   Inter with an astonishing hat-trick by Argentinean forward Mauro Icardi crushed AC Milan ending with a 3-2.   Inter not only won the Milan Derby, but also is holding the 2nd position reaching 22 points being just -2 points below Napoli who are in the first position.    Mamma mia and guess what???  What!!!   Napoli and Inter will be playing next week at the San Paolo Stadium which is the most awaited game to see whether Napoli keeps a perfect victory or we will see a change in the leadership!.

A blow for Juventus down in the 3rd position after their defeat at the Allianz Stadium.  Lazio smacking 2 goals to claim the victory and stopping Juventus winning path.  Juventus are now -5 points below Napoli!  It will be a sprint race to catch up and hope for Napoli and Inter to lose some points to defend their Title.   Up to Napoli to make it a tough race and hold the first spot.   Can they do it?  That’s the question.

The other derby between Bologna and SPAL was a real thriller.   At the end, it is Bologna to defeat newly promoted from Serie B “SPAL.”   Imagine, the last time this Derby was played was back in 1992-93!!!!!!!   Bologna 2 – 1 SPAL.

Chaos for Benevento still unable to win a game and the only team without points!!!  Hellas Verona defeating Benevento and the victory is a double reason to celebrate because it is the first win of the season for Verona.

Results from Serie A Week 8

The top scorer of the Serie A Up to Week 8: Lazio forward Ciro Immobile with 11 goals.

Hello my friends! Here is the Serie A Week 8 Preview for the games on Saturday 14, Sunday 15, and Monday 16 October 2017.    It will be a super interesting round because we are resuming the Serie A after the International break  for the World Cup qualifiers.

Here is the situation.  Up to Week 7, Napoli is the sole leader of the Serie A with 21 points winning all their 7 games having a positive goal difference of +20.   Napoli can keep the first position if they defeat AS Roma at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.  Surely, Napoli highly motivated with their superb performance in Serie A.  Napoli will look to win the game to be ready for the Champions League match against Manchester City  on Tuesday 17 October at the Manchester Stadium.  Roma looking to win the home game and be ready for the Champions League game on Wednesday 18 October at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

The challenge will be for Juventus to get back to the winning path after losing their perfect score last week when ended with a 2-2 draw with Atalanta. Juventus went down to the second position with 19 points while Inter also with 19 points remain in the 3rd position.  Challenge for Juventus will be to defeat Lazio at the Allianz Stadium to keep up the race for the Scudetto.  A defeat will be a disaster for Juventus who are also preparing for the Champions League Group Stage next week against Sporting on Wednesday 18 October.

It won’t be easy for Juventus because Lazio is highly motivated after their astonishing  victory demolishing  last week Sassuolo at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium. Lazio 6 – 1 Sassuolo.

The awaited game could be the Milan Derby – Derby della Madonnina between Inter vs AC Milan at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.   Inter having a wide advantage over Milan.  Inter having 19 points in the second position while Milan down to the 7th position with 12 points.

Another Derby is between Bologna vs  SPAL at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium.

Results from Serie A Week 7

The top scorer of the Serie A Up to Week 7: Juventus forward Paulo Dybala with 10 goals.

What a slap!!  Juventus failing to win this home game to keep up the race for the Scudetto after the draw with Atalanta in Bergamo.  Lazio highly motivated after defeating last week Sassuolo with an astonishing 6-1 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium claiming this important away victory at the Allianz Stadium.

  • Before the game:  There are 148 precedents between Juventus and Lazio in Serie A.  74 games in Turin stats showing Juventus with 47wins, 18 draws, and Lazio with 9 wins.  Juventusscoring 162goals and Lazio 73 goals.

It is Juventus to open the score in the 23rd minute. Douglas Costa defeating Lazio goalkeeper Strakosha from close range with a right footed shot in the center.

The situation complicating for Juventus. Lazio equalizing for the 1-1 in the 47th minute. Forward Ciro Immobile defeating Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon with a right footed shot in the bottom right corner. The assist is by Luis Alberto.

Oh oh … chaos for Juventus. Something is not clicking for the Bianconeri. Referee Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni giving a penalty to Lazio conceded by goalkeeper Buffon getting also a yellow card after his foul inside the penalty box on Ciro Immobile. It is Immobile, himself, to walk towards the penalty spot and there you go….. GOOOALLLLL Immobile converting the penalty with a right foot shot in the bottom right corner, no hope for Buffon.

First substitution for Lazio in the 72nd minute.

Allegri making another change to energize the attack by bringing Argentinean forward Paulo “La Joya” Dybala replacing Sami Khedira in the 65th minute.

Last substitution for Juventus in the 72nd minute.

Lazio with the second substitution in the 76th minute. Coach Simone Inzaghi replacing forward Ciro Immobile to bring Felipe Caicedo.

What a thriller!!!!!! In the last minute of the match Referee Mazzoleni giving a penalty to Juventus. A total unexpected result for Juventus when they thought to have the chance to equalize and grabbed at least 1 point. BAM! Puff! Lazio goalkeeper Strakosha saving the penalty by forward Paulo Dybala!!!!!! and that’s it… Lazio defeating Juventus!

Here is JUVENTUS official starting lineup – formation by Coach Massimiliano Allegri:

JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Chiellini, Asamoah; Khedira, Bentancur, Matuidi; Douglas Costa, Higuaín, Mandžukić.
