Italian Soccer Serie A

        Lazio 0 –  0 Benevento

The Inzaghi Derby ended with a goalless draw at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium on Saturday 19 September 2020.  This was a friendly game ahead of their respected debuts in the 2020-2021 Serie A.

I must say that I am so thrilled to have both Inzaghi brothers in the Serie A.  Wow, you got to be kidding!  Surely, Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi has more experience on the technical level.  Simone has won with Lazio 2 Super Coppa Italiana as coach.  However, Benevento Coach Filippo “Super Pippo” Inzaghi has more experience as a footballer, especially with ex-team AC Milan winning 2 UEFA Champions League and with Italy team the 2006 FIFA World Cup.    I am so happy with this pre-season friendly game referred now as “The Inzaghi Derby.”

Warming up is over and now they will have to prepare for the Serie A.  On Wednesday 30 September, Lazio will play the Serie A Week 1 against Atalanta  at the Olimpico and Benevento will play against Inter at the Ciro Vigorito Stadium.

Here is LAZIO official starting lineup – formation by Coach Simone Inzaghi:

LAZIO (3-5-2) – Strakosha; Patric, Acerbi, Radu; Lazzari, Akpa Akpro, Leiva, Parolo, Lukaku; Correa, Immobile.

Here is BENEVENTO official starting lineup – formation by Coach Filippo Inzaghi:

BENEVENTO (4-3-3) – Montipò; Letizia, Glik, Caldirola, Foulon; Ionita, Schiattarella, Dabo; Caprari, Moncini, Insigne.

Benevento Coach Filippo Inzaghi with encouraging news. Benevento defeated Reggina  with a 2-1 in the friendly game on Saturday 12 September 2020 at the Vigorito Stadium.  Benevento were promoted from the Serie B to the Serie A to participate in the 2020-2021 Season.

Inzaghi saying, “You must never lose the habit of winning. We started a bit tight, then the team came out. We conceded a naive goal, then we created a lot and could have been even more cynical. The condition gives me hope. I preferred to give less time to those who played for the national team, all the others behaved well. This is the best news that does not surprise me at all ”.

Cagliari 2 – 2 AS Roma

38′ Marko Rog                            59′ Cengiz Ünder
43′ Sebastian Walukiewicz   61′ Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Cagliari and AS Roma faced each other in a pre-season friendly on Saturday 12 September 2020 at the Sardegna Arena.   The game ended with a draw which is disappointing for Cagliari who were leading with a 2-0.   Cagliari Coach Eusebio Di Francesco met with his ex team.   The draw for AS Roma sounds more like a victory reacting in the second half to level the score.

The Serie A 2020-2021 Serie A season starts next week.  Hellas Verona vs AS Roma on Saturday 19 September at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium and Sassuolo vs Cagliari on Sunday 20 September at the Mapei Stadium.
