Thanks for visiting my blog.  Here is the 2016 – 2017 Italian Serie A Standing / Serie A Table. The season will end on Sunday 28 May 2017.  Juventus won the 2016 Scudetto winning their 5th consecutive one.

  • Here is the current situation, up to Serie A Week 29 the sole leader of the Serie A is Juventus with 73 points and a positive goal difference of +40.   The top scorer is  Torino forward Andrea Belotti with 22 goals.

Italy Head Coach Gian Piero Ventura has called up 25 players for the World Cup Qualifier game Italy vs Albania on Friday 24 March and the International Friendly Netherlands vs Italy on Tuesday 28 March 2017.  There are 3 players receiving their first called ups:  SPAL goalkeeper Alex Meret, Atalanta’s Leonardo Spinazzola and Inter’s Danilo D’Ambrosio.

As reported by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), the team will meet on Sunday 19th March at the Technical Center Coverciano.

  •  Italy vs. Albania at the Stadio Renzo Barbera (following Italy’s 1-0 win in 2014, this will be only the second encounter between the two teams), in what will be the fifth round of European qualifiers in Group G. Meanwhile, Spain (joint-leading the group with Italy on 10 points) will take on Israel, who are positioned in third place and are three points ahead of Albania.  The Azzurri have a positive record in Palermo (13 games played, 11 wins, one draw and only one defeat, which was in 1994 against Croatia).

Tough situation for Crotone seeing their chances to remain in the Serie A next season extinguishing.    Fiorentina grabbing an agonizing victory to claim all e points.   Crotone losing their 22nd defeat while winning only 3 games compared to Fiorentina winning 13 games.

It is forward Nikola Kalinic to score the winner “and only” goal of the match in the 90th minute.  Kalinic defeating Crotone goalkeeper Alex Cordaz with a right footed shot in the center.   The assist is by  Riccardo Saponara with a through ball.   This is the 14th goal of the season by Dzeko.

The Italian Referee Association (AIA) has designated Referee Carmine Russo from the section of Nola to direct the Serie A Week 29 game AC Milan vs Genoa on Saturday 18 March 2017 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy at 20:45.

A superb match played by forward Lorenzo Insigne scoring two goals.  Napoli starting their recovery period after being out of the Champions League eliminated by Real Madrid.  Napoli and Roma are neck to neck  battling for the second position.

It is Napoli to open the score in the 32nd minute.  Referee Mariani giving a penalty to Napoli conceded by Crotone defender Sampirisi after a foul on forward Lorenzo Insigne inside the penalty area.  It is Insigne to take the penalty spot converting it with a  with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.

Tough situation for Crotone conceding another penalty!   In the 66th minute, forward Dries Mertens converts a penalty defeating goalkeeper Cordaz with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner.   It’s the 19th goal of the season in Serie A by Mertens and 24 in all competitions.

 

Crotone falling!   The third goal of the match is scored by Napoli causing a party moment at the San Paolo Stadium with the fans  rooting for their team.    Sadly, the few Crotone fans just speechless seeing their future black to remain in Serie A.    Insigne scoring in the 70th minute delivering a right footed shot to the bottom left corner.   The assist is by Jorginho with a through ball.   It’s the 10th goal of the season in Serie A by Insigne.
