It was a second half goal from Kurtic, just a few moments after he had taken to the field, that proved decisive in a match that Fiorentina had dominated up until the Slovenian’s 58th minute strike. 

Atalanta, however, posed real problems to the Viola defence when they did create chances. Neto and Gonzalo Rodriguez had to be at their imperious best to deny the likes of Boakye, Denis and Benalouane.

In the end, it was three well-deserved points for Fiorentina, who were convincing in all areas and adapted superbly in terms of personnel and playing style to extend Montella’s 100% record in Bergamo to three matches.
