MILAN – Sunday night’s derby ended in a 1-1 draw and it leaves the gap between the two sides in the league table unchanged. The rossoneri however came close to finding a second goal, especially in the second half.

Filippo Inzaghi’s side broke the deadlock on 23 minutes thanks to a fabulous side-footed volley from Jeremy Menez but the nerazzurri managed to equalise through Obi in the second-half.

The rossoneri came close to finding a winner and El Shaarawy hit the crossbar while Poli, 2 minutes from the end, saw his effort deflected agonisingly wide of the post.

Following the derby day draw, Milan are now on 18 points in the league table.

Here are some of the stats to emerge from Sunday night’s derby:
3- the number of assists by Stephan El Shaarawy. His first was for Honda on the opening day of the season against Lazio. He then provided another assist to Honda against Hellas Verona in round 7. In Sunday’s derby, El Shaarawy provided the cross for Menez’s wonderful finish which broke the deadlock at the San Siro.

14- the number of draws in derby matches that have taken place during the month of November. The record now reads: 12 wins for Milan, 12 wins for Inter and 14 draws.

24 October 2004- the last time that the derby ended in a draw with Milan as the home side. On that day, the match ended 0-0. Coaching Inter back then was the current nerazzurri coach Roberto Mancini.

5- the number of goals scored by Menez in Serie A this season. His fabulous finish this evening was his second goal from open play. The other was his wonderful back-heel flick away to Parma in the thrilling 5-4 win on the 14th of September 2014.

200- the number of professional career appearances for Andrea Poli at club level. Sunday’s appearance in the derby means Poli has now played 140 matches in Serie A, 36 in Serie B, 8 in the Italian Cup and 16 in the European competitions with Treviso, Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Inter and Milan.
